PCRules.com - Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition Review by Hussian Murani

In that ongoing process to beautify our desk spaces we are forever in awe of good looks and nifty robust technology.  We strive everyday to better our technology and rid ourselves of the burden of wired goods.  So why not go wireless!!

In an effort to find that perfect keyboard and mouse we come across Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition, what a package!! Most of us tend to look for the packages that suit us best, but do we all really get the chance to test all the different products in today’s challenging marketplace?

Buy from Amazon.co.uk!

The Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition is feature-packed.  In a slick black colour, draped with black leather on the keyboard hand-rest and mouse, this keyboard hand rest is capable of smartening up any desk space be it for the businessman or the home office.

Most keyboards nowadays have your standard multimedia function buttons, but what sets this keyboard apart from the rest? Well many keyboards have miniature sized buttons that are placed terribly in an overcrowded fashion that just about requires the use of the back of pencil/pen just push the buttons in an effort to avoid pushing two simultaneously.

The Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition is organized at a tremendous level of brilliance, with large buttons well spaced, that use the entire border space of the keyboard.

 • Five very easy to program buttons allow you to call up any folder or application of your choice

 • A media centre with play, stop, mute, vertically placed volume, default media application, and forward and backward track, buttons

 • My Documents, My Pictures, My Music buttons

 • Mail, Web browser, Messenger buttons

 • A depressed Sleep button and raised Log off, and calculator button

 • A scroll wheel with new tilt technology allowing vertical and horizontal scrolling both on keyboard and mouse, along with Back and Forward buttons.

But best of all Microsoft have included a button called ‘F-Lock’ a button similar to ‘Caps-lock’ and ‘Num-lock’ that allows the F buttons to double in features similar to likes of a notebook.

Well how about wireless Range? The Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition is great with its 8ft range when the receiver is placed in an infallible fashion, and you wouldn’t be able to tell a difference in response times, be it games or other demanding application packages. Microsoft have really thought it through well degrees of sensitivity can be user selected.

The Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition is a sturdy keyboard comfortable to use, although Microsoft haven’t yet uncovered the battery recharging technology battery life is long. The unfortunate side to the mouse however, is optical mice are meant to be rather light in weight, but the mouse in this package requires two AA batteries which add quite the mass to lightweight technology.

Overall The Microsoft Optical Desktop Executive Edition is a well designed package and is highly recommended. Price point??? Well what can you afford? If you can afford to pay the price you will not be disappointed!
